CÈL·LULA is a flexible infrastructure aimed at the creation, continuous transmission and development of dance shows. It invites and welcomes choreographers and dancers. Its purpose is to facilitate and produce medium- and large-scale dance shows, thereby responding to the current difficulties in producing pieces in this format faced by small independent infrastructures. At the same time, it sets in motion a programme of laboratories intended for research and transmission of techniques and work methodologies that nurture the creation of new shows and facilitate the growth and development of artists in a collaborative relationship, proposing ways of sharing and making choreographic work sustainable. We consider that at the present time it is the responsibility of the public system to support the creation of new shows by taking charge of the production process.

CÈL·LULA projects take various forms. These include in-house productions, international and national co-productions, and research laboratories, depending on the choreographies, the artists and the affinities that emerge.
CÈL·LULA LAB invites artists to lead practices and share methodologies, processes and research. It is a tool for growth through shared experience.The CÈL·LULA LABs are intended to better acquaint the performers with the tools and languages of the different choreographers, helping them to grow in versatility and depth, and at the same time identifying the points in common and differences existing among these performers and the choreographers’ various proposals and practices. We will find out what possibilities different choreographers have for sharing performers, and clarify the make-up of CÈL·LULA as a flexible, variable resource. The goal of the LABs is also to share knowledge among the choreographers, performers and participating artists, in order to observe what is shared, what sets us apart, complements or confronts us. A research space serving to expand knowledge, discover new possibilities, initiate projects and possible partnerships.
GN | MC. GUY NADER | MARIA CAMPOS closed its trilogy about time and space with Made of Space, presented on 2021/2022 season. The piece emerged from the Mercat project supporting the CÈL·LULA project. An energetic, precise choreography premiered to great acclaim at the 2021 Grec Festival in Barcelona.
Pere Faura used the LABS to start his creation on Bob Fosse, the filmmaker and choreographer, who danced his own death in All that jazz. Faura’s Rèquiem nocturn was premiered on 2020/2021 season. Barcelona-born choreographer, Pere Faura, bids farewell to dance. And he does so through the artistic universe of Fosse in order to create a big festive requiem.
Albert Quesada was the first to show the result of the CÈL·LULA project with Flamingos, the piece that was premiered on 2018/2019 season and returned on 2019/2020, for all those who did not have the opportunity to see it then and for those who want to know how it had continued growing this personal vision of the flamenco party.
