Our organisation, which is dedicated to culture, presents and represents the diversity of thought and cultural plurality of the 21st century. Given our position we believe that neither prison nor repression are the solutions to political conflicts; we think that conflicts can only be resolved by discussion, listening and respect. Freedom of expression, acceptance of dissent and resolution of conflicts through dialogue are the only way of living together in a society. When the solution is prison, repression, the refusal to address conflict and the restriction of freedom of expression, this weakens our society.
We deeply regret the recent court sentence and ask the political leaders to enter into dialogue; the conflict is neither over nor resolved.
We want to express our solidarity with the people who are being deprived of their freedom and their families.
