Sala Sebastià Gasch

Located on the first floor of the Mercat de les Flors, the Sala Sebastian Gasch, with capacity for 80 people, mainly hosts small-scale concerts and shows.

Sebastià Gasch (Barcelona, 1897-1980) was an art critic and eloquent chronicler of the performing arts. His writings helped to draw attention to theatre acts such as circus, conjuring, music hall and puppets, banished by high culture.  A classmate of Joan Miró’s and pen friend of Federico García Lorca’s, Gasch was the mind behind the Manifest Groc, a manifesto that opposed the Noucentista cultural movement (classically orientated) and which was also signed by Salvador Dalí and Luis Montanyà. Gasch was a prolific writer and featured in numerous publications, including the magazine Destino.
