CIUTAT FLAMENCO 2014

The celebrations planned for the Carmen Amaya Year last from May 2013 to May 2014. Last year we also dedicated the Ciutat Flamenco festival to this flamenco dancer with the inauguration of the Sala Carmen Amaya auditorium at the Mercat and performances by, among others, Rocío Molina and Eva Yerbabuena with the Barcelona Municipal Band, students from L’Hospitalet School of Arts and the Institut del Teatre. This year we want to end the celebrations with an absolutely contemporary, transcultural and universal vision of flamenco: performances by new artists, dialogue between music and dance, artistic residencies, tapeos and much more, in order to examine and bring up to date the tradition and future of this art. Organised jointly by Mercat de les Flors and Taller de Músics, the festival presents the most innovative face of flamenco, opening the traditions up to new interpretations while maintaining flamenco as an art deeply rooted in our culture.
