A festival in search of talent

Thanks to the cooperation between the Taller de Músics and the Mercat de les Flors, Ciutat Flamenco is synonymous today, in the world of flamenco, with research, discovery, hybridisation, praxis and endless questioning. In the last few years the festival has established stable projects such as the research space and presents proposals that may be described as empirical: the tapeos in the Mercat entrance hall and the concerts in the main auditorium, where the cante (singing), the baile (dance), the toque (guitar-playing) and all the hybrid forms always raise questions about what we now call flamenco.

Committed to the evolution of this art, every year the festival leaves more and more room to the discovery of new talent and its presentation to a sometimes expert but always interested public. Fresh new pieces, cooked up instantly through live improvisation coexist alongside other more premeditated productions that cross frontiers, evoke debate, compel and provoke but inevitably open up new paths.
