Ciutat flamenco / Ciutat fla. co. men.

From 18th to 22th May

It is quite clear that Israel Galván is not only an accomplished flamenco dancer but that his style has become a way of understanding flamenco. It’s no wonder then that old and new, flamenco and contemporary artists, appear with Galván, threaded though the eye of his needle. Both a galaxy and a carpet. This fabric – it’s not for nothing that he has chosen the textile artist Teresa Lanceta to saw his image – has been fashioned following a distinctive path, woven with a special warp and weft. Old wools taken from artists who accompany Galván in Fla. Co. Men., and the latest silks, Patricia Caballero and El Niño de Elche, threads woven together by the dancer. The result is rough and smooth. Israel Galván is a tapestry.
