Spring forward – AEROWAVES

From 17th to 19th of April

Aerowaves is a hub for dance discovery in Europe. It is an EU-funded network designed to identify the most promising new work by emerging dance artists and then promote it through cross-border performances.

Spring Forward is Aerowaves’ annual festival, which takes place in a different city each year. Spring Forward primarily acts as a platform for the Aerowaves Twenty, a group of emerging choreographers selected by the Aerowaves network through an open call each year.

This year Aerowaves and Mercat de Les Flors are working in partnership to bring Spring Forward to several venues in Barcelona. Over one action-packed weekend, 23 dance companies and artists from 17 countries will perform for audiences in Barcelona, including more than 100 dance and performing arts programmers, as well as local dance fans.

The choice of shows, unlike other European dance platforms, depends on artistic merit and not nationality. This year at Spring Forward, 16 of the Aerowaves Twenty artists will perform, alongside selected local artists and Aerowaves Encore artists.
