DANIEL DOÑA CIUTAT FLAMENCO 2015: A pie de calle

Share

The relationships between people are an indisputable fact, unless you live in a completely isolated place without human contact. Therefore, the interaction is clear, even though it does not imply any type of rapport or understanding, or even sharing something. There are encounters that draw you to enter into the universe of another person, compelling you to inquire about their thoughts, why they are here and not somewhere else, why they chose the life they lead and not another, what they would have liked to do or not do. All in all, taking an interest in another person. Only this. Trying to decide whether there are parallel paths that can converge. Trying to find bridges that can link two or more people. This is socializing, something that seems to be becoming more and more difficult.

It’s a long time since Daniel Doña created his own group, the Daniel Doña Compañía de Danza Española, back in 2004. The dancer and choreographer Daniel Doña has been a member of the Spanish National Ballet and stood out as a solo dancer in the most important companies in Spain. He has built his career at venues such as the Teatro Clàssic in Mérida, the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, the Palacio de Congresos in Madrid, the Sydney Opera House, and the Teatro Mellá in Havana. As a director and choreographer, his pieces have been performed at festivals such as the Madrid en Danza international festival, the Tanzaus Festival (Düsseldorf, Germany), the Ibero-American Festival in Bogota and the Seville Flamenco Biennial.

Having produced five shows, Daniel Doña, accompanied by dancer Cristian Martín, is back with A pie de calle, a piece where he continues to pursue his idea of combining flamenco, tradition and new trends in Spanish dance.
