SALAO, ALBERT QUESADA & ZOLTÁN VAKULYA CIUTAT FLAMENCO 2015: Improvisación

Share

In this Improvisació Albert Quesada explores rhythmic complexity, choreographic detail and the emotional release that takes place in flamenco clubs (tablaos). Through dance, the Catalan artist focuses on the connection and communication that this establishes with the public. A connection that is “magnetic and irresistibly fascinating” for the artist.

On this occasion, the artist will count on dancer Zoltán Vakulya and singer José Antonio Martín ‘Salao’ as guest artist. This Improvisació is part of the research project Flamenco / Undostresundos, which will be presented in autumn 2015.

After studying philosophy and multimedia engineering in Barcelona, Albert Quesada moved abroad to train at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Amsterdam and the PARTS school in Brussels. Later he taught courses and workshops at different places in Belgium, Austria, India and the United States and worked with the company ZOO-Thomas Hauert. He has also worked with Benjamin Vandewalle and starred in Solo on Bach & Glenn, a highly successful show that is currently still on tour. Quesada combines onstage work with video dance performances, which like his other projects have been presented abroad. His work focuses on exploring the modes and rituals of shows and their relationship with the spectators. In particular, his work has become a study of music as a holder of meaning.
