When everything has disappeared, when our fellow travellers abandoned the journey long ago, when the circumstances tell us that we should stop, what is it that drives us on, that drives us to start again, to let us ourselves be transported or strive towards the light we see on the horizon?
A homage to those people who push on, to those who never give up the fight, because if someone, a long time ago, had not decided put on their shoes and coat and leave home, none of us would be here today. XXi reveals the essence of flamenco as a street art, a type of art that only needs a floor and solid shoes to present itself in the most inhospitable and remote places; a dance that is like walking, wanting to continue and move forward.
Increpación Danza was formed in 1993 by Montse Sánchez and Ramón Baeza. During these last twenty-one years, the company has worked towards the goal of bringing together flamenco and Spanish dance using the aesthetic and choreographic parameters of current contemporary dance. So far, they have created over a dozen large-scale shows and worked with various European companies and institutions.
