EASTMAN / SIDI LARBI CHERKAOUI Fractus V

The renowned Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi is back in Barcelona with Fractus V, a show for five performers possessing very different styles together with three live musicians. After presenting Fractus, a short piece inspired by texts about political propaganda written by Noam Chomsky to mark the 40th anniversary of Pina Bausch’s Wuppertal Tanztheater, Sidi Larbi wanted to expand on it. Now, with Fractus V, he explores concepts of information and manipulation. The piece was developed while completing a residency at the Graner art factory.

Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, the new artistic director of the Royal Ballet of Flanders, began as a leading member of the Belgian group Les Ballets C de la B; he has also worked with many other artists, such as Akram Khan, Damien Jalet, Maria Pagés and Shantala Shivalingappa. In 2010 he founded the Eastman company in Antwerp.
