Since 2014, La Manufacture in Lausanne has been the first school in Switzerland to offer advanced studies in contemporary dance. Under the artistic direction of choreographer Thomas Hauert, these studies seek to enhance 21st-century dancers’ creativity, autonomy and ability to adapt. This year, their final degree project includes a piece from Alma Söderberg and another from Salva Sanchis. Neither have been performed before and they have been created especially for these students.

The Catalan choreographer Salva Sanchis has chosen Igor Stravinsky’s Les Noces to create the piece commissioned by La Manufacture. This work was composed expressly to be danced as a gift for Bronislava Nijinska. And the Swedish choreographer Alma Söderberg focuses on a simultaneous work between dance and music, in which the dancers will use their bodies to create a score.
