An innovative Korean company that has attracted attention from audiences of all kinds, particularly amongst the young, with their fusion of contemporary dance and hip-hop, performs several of the pieces that have made them famous in Barcelona.

It is no coincidence that this company’s choreographies are strongly influenced by hip-hop. This is because the founder, Ahn Soo-young, began his career as a street dancer before setting up his own company and finding fame in both his native Korea and Europe with Swan Lake, a choreography that we will see at the Grec Festival this year. The company’s version of the classical piece contains an environmental message, as the swans wander amongst asphalt and skyscrapers in search of the homes that have been taken away from them. Tchaikovsky and breakdance go hand-in-hand in what is one of their best-known works, along with Time Travel 7080. This second choreography, which we will also see in Barcelona, takes us back to the 1970s and 80s through the dance, music and customs of a period in which protests and riots were a frequent occurrence in South Korea. Finally, the programme also includes The Bucket List – 2nd Story, which invites today’s young people to think about the meaning of life by accepting their imminent death.
