Sala Ovidi Montllor

This auditorium, built in 2000 inside the premises of the Institut del Teatre, is shared with the Institut. Its seats 320 and has an Italian-style layout.

The poet, singer and actor Ovidi Montllor (Alcoy, 1942 – Barcelona, 1995) debuted in theatre in 1962 with La Cassola, a company from Alcoy. In Barcelona, he worked with the companies directed by Adrià Gual and Núria Espert and in the CICF Independent Theatre Group, with Fransesc Nel·lo and Fabià Puigserver at the helm. In the late 1960s he began a distinguished career as a singer, setting his own lyrics to music and also texts by poets such as Salvador Espriu and Vicent Andrés Estellés. He was part of the Nova Cançó (New Song) artistic movement and in cinema played noteworthy roles in films such as Furtivos and La oscura historia de la prima Montse.
